Julie Culberson was a quintessential mountain guide. Adept on rock, snow, ice and at high altitude, Julie safely guided numerous clients up the highest peaks on several continents. Even with her nearly perfect record of success, perhaps her most distinguishing characteristic as a guide was her enormous capacity for client care. Julie was strong, compassionate, and loved sharing the mountains with people. In her honor, this fund has been established to help support women who have chosen guiding as a profession.
The purpose of this fund is to provide partial funding of educational endeavors for women trying to become better professional mountain guides. These endeavors may be in the form of AMGA guiding and skills courses or other comparable services, and may include avalanche and medical courses.
