Mike Hattrup/XO Net Ski Mountaineering Guide Exam Scholarship Fund

Mike Hattrup is an AMGA certified Ski Mountaineering guide and long time extreme skier. Adept in the steeps of Alaska, the beauty of the Alps, the powder of Canada, or the expanse of the North Cascades National Park, Mike safely guides numerous clients on ski mountaineering adventures across the globe. This scholarship was formed by Mike Hattrup and XO/Net to advance the profession of ski guiding in America, and have one qualified individual a year receive $500 toward the AMGA Ski Mountaineering exam.

Criteria for application

The purpose of this scholarship is to partial funding of the AMGA Ski Mountaineering Exam to guides who have taken the AMGA Ski Mountaineering Course. One $500 scholarship will be awarded each year. The successful applicant is a guide who:

  • Is a current member of the AMGA
  • Is currently enrolled in at least one AMGA programs
  • Is pursuing guiding as a profession
  • Has taken the AMGA Ski Mountaineering Guides Course
  • Is seeking to better his/her guiding skills through educational courses and/or exams
  • Was not a recipient of funding from the MH/XON scholarship in the previous calendar year
  • Will provide a written report on the use of the scholarship as well as provide two photographs (after the course) for the MH/XON and the AMGA within two weeks of completing the course.
