The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to 12 temporary positions at Mount Rainier National Park. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2014

The park is located approximately 2 hours south of Seattle, near the communities of Ashford and Elbe.  Both are very small rural communities of several hundred people, with some housing available for rent or purchase, convenience stores, gas, church, and an elementary school (K-6).  Eatonville (32 miles from Longmire) and Morton are both larger rural communities of several thousand people and  have a wider variety of services; kindergarten through high school, licensed childcare, doctor, dentist, banks, grocery stores, pharmacy, movie theater, etc. as well as greater availability of housing for rent or purchase.
