Join Us | For 40 years, we’ve been setting the standard for professional guides and climbing instructors in the United States.

In 1979 a handful of guides met informally in the Tetons to talk about the future of guiding in America. They walked away with some audacious goals: to bring together the guiding community, to professionalize the industry, and to make guiding and instructing a sustainable career. For the past 40 years, the AMGA has served our community and led the way in the business of being a guide.

From aspiring guides and instructors to seasoned veterans, we are more than 4,000 members strong and counting. When you become an AMGA member, you belong to a community of guides and instructors who take their profession seriously. As a group we have collective influence and serve as the voice of American guiding and instruction. Clients, land managers, and outdoor industry leaders look to the AMGA for excellence, support, and viable solutions that carry our craft forward. By joining the AMGA, you become a vital contributor to the future of guiding.
