Brief Bio
I started climbing in 2006, just before graduating high school. I never considered it for work originally, I didn't want to burn out. My previous career as a photojournalist and employee at National Geographic led to a chance gig sailing and photographing sailing yachts in the Caribbean. Then I ended up using my degree (2011 BA in Env. Studies from Univ. of Maryland) as an outdoor educator on traditional sailing ships up and down the East coast, Hawaii, California, Maine, and the Great Lakes. It was hard to get out and climb but I learned a lot of different knots and applications in rigging ships and yachts and manipulating sails, I spent plenty of time up the mast in a harness for sure.
