Brief Bio
I have been practicing all aspects of climbing since 1982. In the 1980’s I learnt to
rock climb on British crags and focused on Alpine climbing in the European alps,
Pyrenees and High Atlas in Morocco. In the 1990’s I primarily focused on rock
climbing, adding trips to Spain to sport climb as well as continuing to climb to E2
standard on trad in the UK. In 1993 I spent time in the Wadi Rum in Jordan
doing early repeats of a number of big wall climbs. In 1998 and 2000 I visited the
Andes and climbed Chimborazo (20,000+ ft) and Cotapaxi (19,500ft). During the
1980’s and 90’s I also did extensive winter climbing in Scotland and the European
Alps - leading up to grade 4/5 in Scotland
I continued to climb both sport and trad routes in Europe in the 2000’s. I moved to
the California, USA in 2008 and focused on climbing 12-14,000 peaks in the
Rockies, Cascades and Sierras. From 2019 onwards I have been living in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania and have refocused on pure rock climbing, both Sport and Trad, in PA,
the Gunks and other areas on the East Coast.
