Brief Bio
I grew up in Minnesota, but I'll always be drawn to the western mountain states. I love climbing and I love sharing that passion with others.
I started guiding canoe expeditions for young kids at a YMCA summer camp in MN when I was... well, a young kid (19 years old). Since then I have worked with multiple companies in many different states, predominantly focusing on coaching life skills and leadership to young adults through rock climbing and general backcountry travel.
I'm 37 years old now, and I've been climbing for about 25 years. It's been the primary driving force in my life for about 15... that and my my house, which it turns out feels like a life-long, barely sendable project to get it to its full potential. Everything is a work in progress.
I live in Lander, WY, where I work with a friend building houses. I worked for NOLS for 12 years and occasionally jump back into the field with them, taking people into the Wind River Range of the Rockies to climb in the backcountry, as well as many front-country areas: Red Rock, NV; City of Rocks, ID: Vedauwoo, Devil's Tower, Sinks Canyon, WY; Unaweep, CO to name a few.
