    Brief Bio
David has been climbing rock since around 1993 in VA, NC, WV, and NH. When living in NH he also enjoyed ice climbing, gully climbs in Huntington's Ravine, and skiing Tuckerman's Ravine. He's also climbed at Mt. Shasta (CA) and Mt. Hood (OR). Other interests include hiking/backpacking, sailing, and XC mountain biking (and was a NICA coach for a couple years). David began working as an EMT in 1995, became a Paramedic in 1998, began teaching EMS programs in 2001, and in 2007 became the Director of the CAAHEP accredited paramedic program. David was also Director of Emergency Management at a 3000-employee level II trauma center in New England. He’s taught courses for the AHA, ITLS, and Traumatic Brain Foundation and has lectured at several EMS conferences covering cardiology, toxicology, and hypoperfusion. He has also volunteered to teach First Responder courses in Guyana. David served on the NH Bureau of EMS protocol sub-committee and was named EMS Educator of the Year in NH for 2006. David holds an AS in Emergency Health Sciences, BS in Biology-biomedical concentration, and MS Biology. His research has focused on the influence of barometric pressure on the onset of signs and symptoms of acute mountain sickness in non-climbers at moderate altitude. Since 2010 he has taught human anatomy and physiology and general biology and is currently a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology at a private liberal arts college.
