Mountain Adventure Seminars is seeking an individual or couple interesting in operating MAS with the intent of becoming the new owner/operators.
Description: Manager will be responsible for all aspects of operations before, during and after the courses. Customer service, marketing, group contract negotiations, gear purchasing, selling and maintenance, guide hiring, training, scheduling and reviewing. Administrative support with permits, insurance and accounting is available.
Begin September 1, 2014 or as soon as possible with the intent of becoming new owner/operators of the business.
Remuneration is to be negotiated and includes company profits.

History: MAS was started in 1996 as a rock climbing school. In 1999, the company was incorporated as AuroraBound, Inc.
Locations: MAS has a storefront kiosk at Bear Valley Ski Resort and gear storage in the Bear Valley village. MAS is the only permitted guide service for rock climbing and back country skiing in the Stanislaus National Forest (SNF). MAS developed 5 sites within the SNF for rock climbing instruction from bouldering and top roping to Grade IV multipitch. MAS also has long standing permits in ElDorado National Forest for rock climbing at Lovers Leap, Phantom Spires and Sugarloaf, in Lassen National Park for winter travel, at Cosumnes River Gorge and Castle Rock State Park for rock climbing and in Hoover Wilderness in Toiyabe National Forest for mountaineering and rock climbing.
Instruction and Guides: MAS gained accreditation from the American Mountain Guides Association in 2011. MAS uses the AIARE avalanche curriculum. Several MAS guides are AMGA trained and are teaching professionals at high school or colleges. MAS guides are strategically
based near areas of work in the Bear Valley region, Carson Valley, Truckee and the Bay Area.
Partnerships & Events: MAS has an exclusive contract with Bear Valley Ski Resort for telemark ski rentals and lessons including the annual Freeheel Festival, also snowcat and soft boundary tours. MAS hosts the annual Ebbetts Pass Century road cycle ride from Bear Valley.
MAS is the host of Avalanche Awareness lectures throughout Northern California for REI and Sport Basement stores, Stanford ski clubs, Bay Area Mountain Rescue and Santa Clara SAR teams. MAS is the exclusive outdoor rock climbing provider for Bear Valley summer camps. MAS has product sponsorship with Elemental Herbs and ClifBar and is a dealer for Ortovox, Backcountry Access and Black Diamond.
Customers: MAS has hosted over 8000 customers in courses and events during 17 years. MAS has over 11,000 contacts in its customer database and over 5,000 customers subscribing to its email newsletters. Most customers are based in Northern California with the majority residing in the greater Bay Area and Sacramento regions.
