2016 Arc’teryx and AMGA Rock Discipline Mentorship Camp Announcement

ArcteryxThe AMGA, in partnership with Arc’teryx, is proud to announce an exciting mentorship opportunity for current members. The Rock Discipline Mentorship Camp will allow 2 members to develop their guiding skills, network with experienced peers and professionals, and prepare for their next AMGA rock program. On September 21 and 22 of this year, the AMGA will invite 2 members to Boulder, CO to participate in the Rock Discipline Mentorship Camp.

What

The Rock Discipline Mentorship Camp will provide:

  • 2 days of rock discipline specific training at a 2:1 ratio in Boulder, CO from September 21-22, 2016
  • The opportunity to work closely with an AMGA Instructor Team member and peer going through the rock discipline
  • Practice for skills learned on previous AMGA program(s), implementation of new techniques, and discussion opportunities for how to move forward in your guiding career

Cost

There is no charge for the mentorship camp and attendees will be awarded:

  • Three nights of lodging at the Boulder Adventure Lodge (evenings of September 20, 21, 22)
  • Travel stipend of up to $700.00 – attendees are responsible for all costs beyond this stipend

Eligibility

To be eligible for this camp, members must:

  • Have a current AMGA membership
  • Be at the Apprentice or Assistant Rock Guide level (successfully completed either the Rock Guide Course or the Advanced Rock Guide Course)

How to Apply

Interested individuals should submit a letter of intent to the Technical Director, Dale Remsberg, by August 5, 2016. Please include in this letter:

  • Current experience as a guide
  • What AMGA programs you have completed
  • Future plans for guiding and AMGA programs
  • Specific goals and skills you would like to work on during the mentorship camp
  • Please limit your submission to under 500 words

Other Details

  • The selection process will be conducted by 2 AMGA staff members and 2 AMGA Certified Guides at large
  • To be selected, applicants need to submit a creative and compelling letter that conveys future goals and a genuine interest to learn and improve as a guide
  • Letters of intent must be submitted to [email protected] by August 5, 2016
  • Invitations to attend the mentorship camp will be sent out by August 17, 2016
  • Selected applicants will agree to submit a co-created 3-5 minute video and applicable write up that can be used by the AMGA and Arc’teryx in future marketing and branding material at the conclusion of the camp
  • Lodging for camp attendees is generously donated by Boulder Adventure Lodge
