Expedition Guiding Symposium with Grant Statham (Arc’teryx Athlete & ACMG Mountain Guide)

  • Grant Statham: Expedition Guiding Symposium – “Risk – The Anatomy of Chance and Uncertainty”

Grant Statham is a Canadian IFMGA guide, alpinist, and avalanche expert. In 2003, following a devastating avalanche that claimed the lives of seven high school students, Grant was hired by Parks Canada to design and implement sweeping changes to Canada’s systems of public avalanche safety. Grant will be presenting to the AMGA on his study of risky theory, and how it changed an entire industry and produced numerous groundbreaking methods that today have been implemented around the world.

Additional presentations provided by:

  • Matt Farmer, on the Denali Project.
  • Adrian Ballinger, on maximizing safety and efficiency in fixed-line systems.
  • Mountain Trip, on technology on expeditions, and
  • Pat Ormond, on glacier rope setups.

* Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to attendees at Hotel Boulderado.
