Brief Bio
Hello!! My name is Nicholas Shostak. I am 31 years old and have been guiding for 5 years. I am a Wilderness First Responder certified, and in the process of becoming EMT and SPI certified. I specialize in guiding rock climbing but also have extensive experience guiding canyoneering and rappeling. 3 years ago I started my own organization called "Climbing for the Community." We are a non profit dedicated to bringing Adventure, Access, and Acceptance to the community. We focus on creating a space for people to feel welcomed and accepted in the amazing sport of outdoor rock climbing. In my personal life I love to climb traditional routes mostly and enjoy harder sport routes as well. I am also an avid thru hiker, mountaineer, and accomplished long and short distance runner. Some of my proudest accomplishments are completing the full length of the 211 mile John Muir Trail, having 5 summits on top of the 14,501 tall Mt. Whitney, having multiple mountaineering attempts and summits on Mt. Adams, Mt. Shasta, and Mt Olympus, and running and completing several half and full marathons. In my personal time you can find me climbing traditional routes at San Diego's Mission Gorge, or settled in my van by the beach playing guitar, drawing, and writing poetry. I have an immense love for life, nature, and sharing my stoke with others. Bring your smile and lets get after ourselfs!!
