In his inaugural year at Project Venture, Keanu John, our dedicated Experiential Educator, has emerged as a driving force behind the impactful programming and training provided to Native and Indigenous youth. Keanu's unwavering commitment to empowering these communities and validating Indigenous epistemology and the metaphysical world through adventure-based initiatives is truly commendable.
As an Experiential Educator, Keanu plays a pivotal role in facilitating both in-school and out-of-school programs. From teaching concrete skills like rock climbing, fire building, and wilderness navigation to instilling abstract concepts such as leadership, collaboration, service, and perseverance, Keanu's approach is deeply rooted in a Native and Indigenous perspective tailored to the specific communities he serves. Drawing inspiration from his own indigenous community and upbringing, Keanu provides valuable guidance to nurture the youth's growth.
Beyond his professional role at Project Venture, Keanu finds solace in the modern comforts of life. An avid enthusiast of independent films, from student productions to proofs of concepts, short animations, and larger production arthouse films, he frequents movie theatres to indulge in this passion. When not immersed in cinematic experiences, you'll find Keanu engrossed in thought-provoking nonfiction books that challenge and shape his worldviews. Outside of these intellectual pursuits, he cherishes quality time with family and friends, seeking to broaden his horizons through engagement with arts, sciences, and ceremonies.
