CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal – May-August 2024 (Full Time Hourly, Per Diem and Extension
available)

OVERVIEW:
Located in Boulder, Colorado, ABC Kids Climbing is a unique climbing facility for kids and the
home of Team ABC.
Fostering foundational climbing experiences for preschoolers, leading developmental climbing
experiences for kids, coaching competitive climbing experiences for athletes and guiding
outdoor climbing experiences for families.
We’re here to share unique climbing experiences with kids and families while developing the
next generation of youth climbers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A Lead Guide will lead week-long, full day (6+ hour) groups of youth Summer Campers ages
7-17 in ABC Kids Climbing’s Outdoor Summer Camp programs. The Lead Guide will work with
an Assistant Guide and under the direction of the Head Guide to guide top rope and bouldering
experiences at iconic Front Range climbing areas including Eldorado Canyon, The Flatirons,
Flagstaff Mountain, and Boulder Canyon.
We’re seeking a guide with Front Range guiding and/or personal climbing experience,
self-motivation, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with youth.
A Lead Guide is expected to commit to working ~35 hours/week, Monday through Friday from
May 23rd, 2024 – August 16, 2024. After completion of the Summer, part time work may be
available instructing and coaching ABC Kids Climbing teams and classes, and can be
supplemented by per diem private guiding.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● AMGA or PCIA Single Pitch Instructor certification or higher
● Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and ability to pass background check
● Leave No Trace knowledge and ability to teach others
● Recreational knowledge of Colorado’s front range climbing & beyond
● Experience leading or assisting in outdoor adventure/sport programs with youth
● Strong group management skills
● Genuine passion for guiding, teaching, and working with youth of all ages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● First Aid/CPR/AED certification (available upon hiring)
● SafeSport certification (available upon hiring)
● Defensive Driving certification
● Wilderness First Aid/Responder certification
● At least 1 year directly working with youth in an outdoor adventure/sport program
● Flexible schedule with some weekend availability

RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Lead daily Outdoor Summer Camp programs for youth climbers
● Set up top rope climbing anchors at select climbing sites via ground-up and top-access
using natural, bolted, and gear anchors
● Set up outdoor bouldering zones and manage spotting, pads, falling, and descent
● Drive 12-passenger van to and from climbing sites
● Provide top rope belay instruction
● Participate in daily Guide debriefs
● Maintain accurate climbing and guiding logs for your group
● Commission and decommission climbing equipment to campers each week
● Opportunity to lead week-long, overnight climbing experiences with Team ABC athletes

EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE:
● $23-$25/hour, commensurate with experience; per diem work additionally available
